I have talked about how there is an opportunity for there to be a social media platform that connects college students to each other with clubs/activities, their social life, and their education. College is all about making those connections in order to succeed in life, so why not have everyone have that platform, so making connection is easier.
My Interviews:
- A graduated college student, 24
- They already made the connections and did not need the social media platform anymore. They are already connected to their friends on other platforms, and there is no need for them to see clubs and activities which makes sense.
- A student involved with many clubs, 20
- They have all the clubs that they need on other platforms along with the ability to connect to them socially. They did not see a need for it which I find interesting. It brought my attention to a more alumni connection based, not just only an application that caters to the college student life.
- An intern for a company who is a UF student, 20
- They think that having the app will not be as beneficial as they would like. They already have a job that they are pursuing, and they did not see the point of using this app.
- An athletic student, 19
- They thought about it before, but there needs to be something different than the combination between a social media platform and Canvas, as they would like to say.
- An out-of-state College Student, 20
- They thought it would be unnecessary because having an app would just limit the connections to the school. They made me question what made my app different from other apps that are currently existing.

Hi Dan,
ReplyDeleteI think your idea is really great, and could be really beneficial for students to make friends, especially if they are more introverted. Getting many opinions from students was a great choice as they would be the customers using the platform. I feel like everyone could use this social media platform even if they do have good connections. In your "what," you did a really great job specifying that using this app will not magically bring you friends, but more as a conversation starter and way to set up meetings with others. This idea could help many students create study groups and overall be more comfortable on campus and hopefully continue to branch out.
Hi! In the last assignments I really liked your idea, and I think the five additional people you chose to interview were great! I think some of them really don't have the said need, but some do. I think it'll be that way with most people you interview, but maybe try talking to some incoming freshman who don't know a lot of people here. They would probably like the idea of having an app to meet people!
ReplyDeleteHey dan, i think you had a good variety of interviews. Your table perfectly summaries both the pros and cons of your business idea. I think it was very insightful of you to include what the need is not, claiming its not an alternative to socializing in person. The app you've proposed operates as a medium for social venture, it isn't a replacement for it but a compliment. I think that point will be important for you moving forward. Everyones looking to "network" but its hard to do so professionally, i think thats what you're getting at in your "why the need exists" part. That might be helpful in the future as well, catering to college students who want to network professionally and / or socially. Just a thought. Keep up the good work
