- You
- I am a student at the University of Florida majoring in information systems. I feel like it is hard for students to balance their social and academic career together alongside meeting new people, as they adjust to adulthood in college. I want to solve this problem by creating an application that could mold the two together. As this application is important, I want this to be a staple in the University of Florida's social media in order for people to connect and see society in a greater view.
- What are you offering to customers?
- I want to create a social media application that connects people to their classmates in greater depth and be able to find the clubs and organizations that they are interested in. This social media platform would be authenticated by their gator ID to show that they are students. This application would be easy for students to reach other students without having to download many other social medias.
- Who are you offering it to?
- My customers are those that are current students, as they are trying to adjust to the college life. Specifically, my segment is the University of Florida students; however, it can change as the application become more stable. Also alumni of the particular college would be highly welcomed to the app, as it would allow them to connect with students.
- Why do they care?
- People will care about my product because many college students are experiencing the hardship of adult life. They find it hard to adjust to college and keep up with their academic and social life. By having this application, they would be able to see all the clubs and organizations available at the University of Florida and connect with them even more.
- What are your core competencies?
- Everyone tries using social medias and such to connect, but it is never the most viable option, as there are many ways to connect with each other. However, my platform will be the most stable and align to the purpose of keeping organizations and clubs updates and keep the students academically motivated.
I believe all of these elements fit together because my solution incorporates all of the questions. I have successfully identified my target audience, as well as explaining how I want the application to be like. I want it to have meaning where students are able to connect with alumni and each other in order to experience the gator nation and adjust to their adult life.
Hi Dan,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your post! I think that you have a really wide range of customers as there are so many students here at UF and in that program. I completely agree and think that students, especially freshmen will want an opportunity to make connections and friends especially ones that have the same major as them. Your post is very organized and all the questions are cleared defined. I also really like how you want to extend this social media platform to the alumni and gator nations as the connections you make and the more people you know the better off you will be in your future career. This platform would hopefully allow students to transition easily and maintain good greats and mental health!
Hello, Dan,
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea of creating a social media platform for college students. As a college student I might have wished I had had something like this when I was a freshman and did not know anyone here. I like that you pointed out that it is hard to balance your academic life and social life as a college student, because I can relate to this. I find myself constantly struggling with this balance.
Hi! Throughout this whole process I have found your idea and your posts very interesting. Your posts are well thought out and well written, and so is your concept. I feel that it is definitely something that could do some good for students who are struggling or just want to be more connected!
ReplyDeleteI think you did a good job explaining your venture in a manner that makes it unique. I had my doubts about this business because it at first seemed like it was competing with many alternatives, but now that you mention you intend to implement student's Gator 1 cards to authenticate the system (or maybe use university sponsored emails to sign up) I think your idea has a new and unique stance. Take a stronger approach to alumni networking. You mentioned they may be a part of your "Who are you offering it to" but i think if you emphasized professional networking it could bring a variety of ideal users to your platform.
